For Sole Speak: On Site, Queenin sat down with SirenStJupiter and Spirit Nyx, the producers behind the evening, to talk about burlesque, body positivity, friendship, and what happens when creative people find each other.
At the center of their story is friendship.
They found one another, connected, and discovered the kind of creative relationship where ideas don’t have to stay ideas for very long. That friendship became part of the foundation for what they’re able to create together.
But their circle isn’t meant to stay closed.
One thing that stood out during our conversation was their openness to collaboration. SirenStJupiter and Spirit Nyx are continually interested in finding people to work with, bringing different talents and perspectives into the room, and seeing what can happen when creatives are given space to create together.
That spirit fits naturally into the world of burlesque.
Because underneath the lights, costumes, music and sensuality is something much more personal: the freedom to exist in your body as it is.
Our conversation touched on body positivity and the way burlesque can create room for bodies that don’t always get centered, celebrated or presented as worthy of being seen.
On this stage, bodies weren't being asked to fit one definition of sexy.
They were being expressed.
Decorated.
Moved.
Celebrated.
And owned by the people living inside them.
That matters—especially in a culture that spends so much time telling people which bodies deserve attention and which ones should disappear.
What Siren St. Jupiter and Spirit Nyx are helping create pushes in another direction: show up, take up space, find your people, and make something together.
Maybe that’s part of why their friendship and their creative work fit together so naturally.
