Plant Bingo: Growing Community with Existence Sanctuary

Walking into Plant Bingo felt like stepping into a mini botanical garden. That’s honestly the best way to describe it. Everywhere you looked there was life — bright flowers, plants, and greenery filling the yard. It felt warm, peaceful, and full of intention from the moment you walked in.

And then there were the drinks. Not your average pick-up-and-go beverages, but homemade herbal blends crafted with care. Each drink was made with natural herbs, generously donated by Deb, a faithful Raleigh community member and steeped for hours. You could taste the love in every sip. It was one of those small details that made the whole experience feel even more special.

Before the games began, attendees took part in a plant exchange, sharing pieces of their own collections and leaving with something new to nurture. It was such a beautiful way to break the ice — trading not just plants, but stories, tips, and laughs along the way.

Then the bingo wheel started turning.

The second it spun, I was instantly taken back to the bingo halls my grandmother used to love — that same suspense, excitement, and everybody sitting on the edge of their seats waiting for the next call. Only this time, instead of numbers just being numbers, every round came with the chance to learn something new about plants.

By the end of the night, everyone walked away with more than they came with. New plant knowledge, new prizes, new connections, and maybe even a new plant baby or two.

Plant Bingo reminded us that growth doesn’t just happen in soil — it happens in community too. And sometimes the sweetest part of gathering isn’t what you win, but who you meet and what you learn along the way.
